Judd Legum / @juddlegum: @joshsternberg @Disney They were purchased through a third party. They've now instructed the 3rd party not to buy ads on Tucker
Judd Legum / @juddlegum: @joshsternberg @Disney I'm not quite knowledgeable enough to know exactly what is going on. They claimed to have been previously unaware these ads were being placed. But they also acknowledged the ability to stop them, and said they would do so.
Josh Sternberg / @joshsternberg: @JuddLegum @Disney did they tell you if running ads on tucker was part of upfront buy or scatter? do you know how much of disney's ad spend on fox news went to tucker, and how much goes to other programs? did disney say how, for a ‘family-oriented’ company, they came to running ads on fox news?
Josh Sternberg / @joshsternberg: @JuddLegum @Disney Yeah, Disney doesn't make any buys on its own. Disney's media firm, I believe, is OMD? But knowing whether they bought time in the upfront (which would be hundreds of millions a year ago) or scatter (much less in aggregate now, but more expensive) helps in knowing intent.
Josh Sternberg / @joshsternberg: @JuddLegum @Disney Oh that's interesting that they don't know where their TV ad spend is going. I know that's a common thing in digital but first time I heard a brand claim ignorance about TV!
Josh Sternberg / @joshsternberg: @JuddLegum @Disney and then - will disney put money into fox news for this year's upfronts? lots to unpack with these tv deals. and then let's not even get started on what these companies are spending programmatically, where who knows where their ads end up.

David Folkenflik / @davidfolkenflik: 6/ Burris calls charge of racism a “repugnant” union tactic - again, without addressing disparate treatment for white colleague warned about his own tweet using a vulgarity to describe a looting suspect the same day.

@coreypein: It seems to me that in a local news operation with 1-5 editorial staff, and owners thousands of miles away, the journalists could simply decide to walk out the door one day and take most of their readers with them.
@coreypein: They'd need a press, and distribution, and a revenue model, of course. But that's all doable. The barrier to achieving this kind of journalistic independence seems to be as much psychological as it is monetary. The power of the paycheck to instill discipline is remarkable.
